About Us

Our team comprises of young, passionate Muslim (students/full-time workers), born and raised in the city of Tāmaki Makaurau (Auckland). Our parents journeyed from the honourable land of Palestine to the picturesque lands of Aotearoa, where they settled. Little would they know that this land would become part and parcel of our identity and ethnic association. With all the ancestral history we carry and our growing kiwi experiences, we truly understand the importance of indigenous culture. The struggles of our Palestinian great-grandparents, the stories and tales that trail our roots and nourish our Palestinian identity, allowed us to understand the long and taxing journey of the Māori tribes and empathise with all that they have been through.

Salam Aotearoa is a non-profit social enterprise that sprung upon the energetic passion to nurture the Maori culture within daily tasks; to touch skin with our ethnicity. The innate Māori culture is a history of gardens, and our goal is to pave a simple road that can fragrance both the Maori and Muslim identities.

We aim to be the background guide and support for our whānau; seeking to be the pedestal of shaping our community’s corners, utilising our resources, to change what we can to the best of our ability.

We utilize our profits to organize events, projects, and workshops for the community. But we always prioritise extending our support to those in need.
It's all about amalgamating your unique identity with purposeful actions and intentions!
