All projects/events are funded solely through the profit made from our merchandise as well as through donations and sponsorships from generous fellas like yourselves. All events are organised, managed and supported by volunteers all over Aotearoa.
We are grateful for the support and participation of our community, as it is through collective efforts that we can create a meaningful and lasting difference.

Ongoing project:

The 51 Tree Planting Project - (June 2021 - present)
Salam Aotearoa has undertaken this significant endeavour with the aim of honouring the lives of the 51 individuals affected by the Christchurch tragedy. As part of the project, we have successfully planted 51 olive trees in various Islamic Centers across Aotearoa, including Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, Rotorua, and Te Kuiti. These trees serve as a form of sadaqah jariyah, an ongoing charity, symbolizing our commitment to perpetually remember and honour the martyrs.

Some of our profits generated will be dedicated to the maintenance of these trees during the summer season.

Timeline of our notable projects and events:

  • University of Auckland Roses Project (March 2023)
This was a heartwarming initiative aimed at spreading love, compassion, and the beautiful teachings of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). With delicate roses in hand, we had the privilege of presenting these flowers to students, as well as esteemed figures such as our chancellors, vice-chancellors, and their dedicated teams at the University of Auckland.
Each rose carried a soft and gentle message, reminding us of the profound wisdom in the words of our beloved Prophet: "Love for others what you love for yourself." By sharing these roses, we sought to create a ripple effect of kindness, empathy, and understanding within our university community.

  • Distinguished Speaker Engagement: Dr. Abdallah Rothman (October 2021)
In an impactful session, Dr. Abdallah Rothman graced us with his expertise, delving into the profound realms of maintaining a healthy state of mind through principles derived from Islamic psychology. As a highly regarded expert in the field, his enlightening talk captivated the audience in Aotearoa, providing not just theoretical knowledge but practical insights to enhance overall well-being. Dr. Rothman's unique perspective and wealth of knowledge served as a beacon, shedding light on the intersection of psychological principles and the cultural context of Aotearoa, creating a meaningful dialogue that resonated long after the event.

  • Māori Language Week (Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori) (November 2019)
During Māori Language Week, we organized a Māori craft lesson at Iqra Elementary School. This engaging session allowed the children to learn the months of the Māori calendar and discover shared cultural elements between the Māori and Muslim communities, such as the use of a lunar calendar. Alhamdulillah, we also collaborated with the children to create a beautiful Korowai, adorned with their uniquely decorated feathers (huruhuru), representing their Māori birthday months.

  • Esteemed Speaker: Shaykh Samir Al-Nass (September 2019)
Welcoming Shaykh Samir Al-Nass from the US was an honor and a source of profound insight. His impactful talks not only resonated deeply with the Tāmaki Makaurau communities but also enlightened us about the beautiful character of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Shaykh Al-Nass's teachings left a lasting impression of unity and spiritual enrichment.

  • T-shirt Fundraiser for Christchurch Victims (March 22nd, 2019):
In a heartfelt response to the Christchurch tragedy, we organised a t-shirt fundraiser during the Jummah vigil at Christchurch Remembrance. With gratitude to God (Alhamdulillah), our community rallied together, successfully selling 1000 t-shirts. 100% of the proceeds were promptly directed to the affected families, exemplifying the power of collective compassion in the face of adversity.
